First up is our Annual Review and Strategic Planning Meeting.

Stone walls, fall planting, and other tasks will occupy us.
Again, bring a friend and/or tools to the site.

SEPTEMBER 18 THRU OCTOBER 23
Wraps up our BCN Kids Program at Brooklyn Memorial United Methodist Church
10:30 am to 1pm Lunch Included
Know a child 10 yrs and up. Suggest they try out "Community Thru Nature" Program.
There are a few cool field trips on the agenda as well as some surprises in store for our participants.

BCN & FOBC Joint Mtg March 9

Dear Blog Reader-

Brooklyn Centre Naturalists and Friends of Big Creek have joined forces to bring us "Putting the "U" in Urban Watershed Stewardship". The line up of speakers, Joe Mestnik, Terry Duncan, John Rakauskas, and Lisa Warner will be sharing ways to impact The Big Creek Watershed in positive ways. Ways that will include storm water management, creating healthy backyard and public environments for humans and wildlife through the use of native plants and organic garden practices, and understanding how water Quality can be improved from individual action..

The program will be Tuesday, March 9th from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Reingberger Education Center located at 3900 Wildlife Way.

Mike Lang our neighbor and friend is hosting a Valentine's benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters today and tomorrow. http://www.gloriaferris.net/2010/02/valentines-weekend-bigbrothersbigsisters-benefit/

There will be raffles of sports event tickets, playhouse Square events, artwork, clothing and other fun stuff to win.
Brooklyn Centre artists will be attending as well. Mike displays and sells their work. It would be a great time to visit Mike's shop, support a good cause, and meet some of our local artists.

Valentine's Weekend Benefit

One of our friends here in Brooklyn Centre who owns m lang clothing & cocktails will be holding an event for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BCBS) next weekend. There will be food and drink and items to purchase, and the profits will benefit the BCBS organization.

Each year Brookside Center has a local food drive the week before Thanksgiving. Yes, I know it seems like summer just ended but the beginning of the holiday season is upon us.

Sherry Perry is offering a free taco to anyone who stops by The Ugly Broad at Denison and 39th Street with a food or cash donation today, Wednesday, November 18th.

BCNaturalists Meeting Notice

Dear -

We adopted a new name at our last meeting--Brooklyn Centre Naturalists

Our next meeting will be-- Saturday, November 8th at the CPL-Brooklyn Branch, 3706 Mapledale from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. At this meeting we will outline goals, action steps and a time line for our projects.

Thanks to Sharon Martyn our application for pre-certification is on it way. We should have an answer-j ust in time for our December meeting scheduled for December 13-same time and same place.
